The clinical enterprise is comprised of three entities: UNMC Physicians, Bellevue Medical Center and The Nebraska Medical Center. These entities are coming together to form one unified organization. Operating under one name instead of three, beginning on October 13, 2014, these three organizations will be called Nebraska Medicine.
When using the name in print, online or in spoken formats (TV, Radio, Video, Voicemail), the organization should be referred to as Nebraska Medicine on first and subsequent references.
After first reference “Med Center” may be used as a descriptor for the entity as well as an all-inclusive term to include our academic partner University of Nebraska Medical Center.
Specific locations, specialties and partnerships have their own set of naming conventions. For more details, visit the Location/Specialties page.
Business Agreements and Internal Documents
When using the name in print or online, the organization should be referred to as Nebraska Medicine on first reference and may be abbreviated to Ne Med on subsequent references. This abbreviation should not be used for newsletter copy or employee communications.
The preference is to spell out the full Nebraska Medicine name whenever possible.
